Sunny Deol Says He Will Never Endorse Pan Masala
During his appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Sunny Deol was asked about his decision to stay away from pan masala advertisements. The actor said his position on the matter is unlikely to change, regardless of the offers he receives. "I don’t do pan masala ads and kabhi karunga bhi nahi. I wouldn’t do any of those things. (Offer) Aatey hai but nahi karunga. I don’t want to do something which I don’t believe in," he said.
Sunny explained that his decision is based on his personal beliefs rather than the shiny commercial opportunities associated with celebrity endorsements. "Main in sab cheezon ko manta nahi hoon. I don’t think this is a good thing to promote," Sunny said. The actor also indicated that this approach is not just limited to pan masala advertisements. "Kitni cheezein nahi karta because mera zameer nahi manta isliye aur jo karni hoti hai voh kar leta hoon," he added.
Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn And Tiger Shroff Face FDA Notices
Sunny Deol's comments have come amid Bollywood celebrities appearing in advertisements for pan masala-linked brands getting FDA notices. The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has reportedly issued show-cause notices to Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff over their appearance in an advertisement. The notices seek explanations from the actors regarding their role in the advertisement and why action should not be initiated against them.
According to reports, the FDA has raised questions about the use of the brand name, the overall presentation of the advertisement and certain dialogues featured in it. The agency has reportedly argued that the manner in which the advertisement is presented could create an impression that the brand is associated with pan masala. According to the information cited in the notices, an order passed on July 13 this year imposed a one-year ban on the manufacture, storage, transportation, distribution and sale of certain products, including pan masala, within the state. The FDA has reportedly examined the celebrity advertisements in this context and questioned whether their presentation could potentially fall within the scope of the restrictions.
