Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the Gruha Jyothi Urban Housing scheme in Bengaluru, committing to build 1 lakh affordable housing units for slum dwellers and urban poor across the city.

Each beneficiary will receive a 400 sq ft flat with basic amenities including water, electricity and sanitation at a heavily subsidised cost. The project is estimated at Rs 18,000 crore and will be executed in 4 phases over 5 years, starting with layouts near Whitefield and Yelahanka.
