Kalyana Karnataka Utsav: Government Announces 10 Major Development Initiatives for Regional Growth

Kalaburagi: The Karnataka State Government unveiled a comprehensive development vision for the Kalyana Karnataka region, announcing 10 major strategic initiatives during the Kalyana Karnataka Utsav flag-hoisting ceremony at the Police Parade Ground in Kalaburagi.

The initiatives focus on strengthening the region’s economy, improving infrastructure, expanding healthcare and housing facilities, promoting technology and entrepreneurship, developing tourism and sports infrastructure, and enhancing environmental sustainability.

As part of its economic development strategy, the government announced the establishment of the Kalyana Karnataka Economy Mission (KKEM) as a Section 8 enterprise. The initiative aims to attract large-scale private investment and create new economic opportunities across the region.

The government also announced a Bio-Economy Mission aimed at increasing farmers’ income through agro-processing and value addition of locally produced commodities, including Toor Dal, Kamalapur bananas, raisins and millets.

A dedicated two-year campaign against anaemia will focus on screening, prevention and treatment, particularly among pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls.

For Kalaburagi city, the government announced several infrastructure projects, including a flyover on the Sedam Road Ring Road, preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a new Peripheral Ring Road and a ₹30-crore project for developing a public lakefront and recreational park.

The government also plans to develop and distribute 50,000 residential sites for landless families in Kalaburagi district, aimed at expanding access to housing and residential land.

To promote the technology and startup ecosystem, a 30-acre IT Park will be established in Kalaburagi. The government also announced KRIYA (Kalaburagi Research, Innovation and Youth Accelerator) to support startups, innovation and young entrepreneurs.

An AI-based CCTV surveillance network will be deployed across Kalaburagi city and taluk centres. The system is intended to support crime prevention, traffic management and monitoring of civic services, including waste management.

Under the Pilgrimage Circuit and Heritage Development initiative, the government plans to connect major religious and heritage destinations, including Kalaburagi Fort, Khwaja Bande Nawaz Dargah, Sharana Basaveshwara Temple, Buddha Vihara, Malkhed, Sannati and Ganagapura. An allocation of ₹50 crore has been made for the first stage of the project. A Vachana Mantapa will also be established to promote the philosophy and teachings associated with Basavanna.

The government further announced plans for a world-class Sports City in the region. The initiative includes redevelopment of Chandrashekhar Patil Stadium, an MoU with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and the establishment of an international-standard Sports City at Hadagila Haruti village.

As part of its environmental initiatives, the government announced the Koti Vriksha Abhiyaan, a two-year campaign to plant and nurture 1 crore trees across the Kalyana Karnataka region. The initiative aims to expand green cover and strengthen climate resilience across the region.

Together, the 10 initiatives represent a broad development agenda covering economic growth, agriculture, healthcare, urban infrastructure, housing, technology, tourism, sports and environmental protection in Kalyana Karnataka.
