Kalyana Karnataka Utsav: DyCM D.K. Shivakumar Pays Tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Kalaburagi
Kalaburagi: On the occasion of Kalyana Karnataka Liberation Day, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar offered floral tributes to the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Kalaburagi on Thursday morning.
Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge, MLA Allamaprabhu Patil, MLCs Shashil G. Namoshi and Jagadev Guttedar Kalagi, along with other dignitaries, were present at the event.
The leaders commemorated the leadership and contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who served as India’s first Home Minister. The occasion was observed to remember the events that led to the integration of the Kalyana Karnataka region, formerly known as Hyderabad-Karnataka, into the Indian Union.
In 1948, Patel played a key role in the integration of the Hyderabad State, which included the present-day Kalyana Karnataka region, following the end of the Nizam’s rule.
Tributes are paid annually to Sardar Patel during Kalyana Karnataka Utsav to honour his contribution to the region’s integration with the Indian Union and commemorate the significance of the day.
