A school owner in Kerala’s Thrissur district has sparked controversy over a message allegedly asking students who did not participate in Independence Day celebrations to “go to Pakistan.” Dr Raju Davis, owner of the International and Military School in Mala, reportedly shared the message through WhatsApp groups ahead of Independence Day.

The remarks have drawn criticism, with questions being raised over the language used by the school management while addressing students and their participation in the national celebrations.

The message was reportedly circulated in WhatsApp groups associated with the school that included parents also. "I wanted the children to be aware of the freedom struggle, how we gained our freedom and the importance of Independence Day. But more than half of the parents did not permit their children to come. These students will not be allowed to attend classes and will be made to stand outside for the first period. They need to meet me in person and give an explanation. When the country celebrates Independence Day, not paying heed to it and sitting at home is outrageous. These people should go to some other country like Pakistan. They do not deserve to live here. They have no respect for the country, " said Davis in the statement.
