Army Personnel Missing In Arunachal Flash Flood; Labourers Trapped In Upper Subansiri Landslide

An Army personnel has gone missing following a flash flood incident in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley, prompting a coordinated search and rescue operation in the affected area. Multiple rescue teams were rushed from neighbouring Army posts to the site. Despite inclement weather and inundated terrain, the teams reached the affected area and joined the ongoing rescue operations.

Authorities said all available resources are being deployed to locate and evacuate the affected personnel. The search and rescue operation is being carried out on priority, while further details are awaited following verification of the situation.

Meanwhile, a separate landslide incident in Upper Subansiri district has raised concerns over several labourers feared trapped under debris.

The landslide was triggered by heavy rainfall at the Keojaring-Byaching road cutting site on the evening of August 14. Several labourers are believed to be trapped under the debris, with search and rescue operations currently underway.

According to Ronya Marbom, District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) of Upper Subansiri district, one body has been recovered so far. The deceased has been identified as Ronya Marbom.

Rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate and recover those still believed to be trapped beneath the debris. Further details on the number of casualties are awaited as the rescue operation continues.
